TBR Football can confirm that Spurs made enquiries with Real Madrid about Nico Paz during their recent conversations about Rodrygo.
However, it was quickly relayed to Tottenham Hotspur, plus clubs like AC Milan, that Paz is firmly in Madrid’s plans for the future.
Paz, who’s similar to Bruno Fernandes, is technically a Como player, but Real Madrid have matching rights and full control over the talented 20-year-old’s future.
TBR Football has also been made aware that Madrid are very happy with his progress under Cesc Fabregas, and they have made that clear.
Real Madrid won’t allow Tottenham to sign Nico Paz from Como
Real Madrid are in regular contact with Nico Paz and his camp and have informed them they see his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, sources have informed TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey.
Back in February, TBR Football revealed that Tottenham went to scout Paz and were impressed by his performance for Como.
But a move for the Argentine looks to be very tricky given Madrid’s willingness to bring Paz back to the Spanish capital by 2026.
Bailey told TBR Football: “Spurs are one of several clubs, via various channels, that have asked about Nico Paz, but Real Madrid have stepped in to make it clear that his future is in the Spanish capital.
“In theory, Spurs, or indeed other interested clubs, could have secured a loan-type deal as Como have, but that does not appeal given there would be little to no chance of a permanent deal if he performed well.”
Los Blancos believe that Paz’s international ambitions are best served with another season in Serie A.
There is a firm belief that the midfielder has a real chance of being part of Argentina’s squad for the World Cup next summer.
Nico Paz has been discussing his future at Como
Paz has been discussing his future in Italy and revealed that he is excited to spend another season at Como, despite rumours.
Paz told Cadena SER: “There’s always going to be a lot of talk, but I’m calm and focused on Como. A very important season is coming up, and we can do some great things. I’m looking forward to the first league game to show the world what Como is capable of. I’m very excited.”
Tottenham and several other clubs are also chasing the youngster, but the plan seems to be to spend another season at Como before a return to Madrid.
Lionel Messi has previously praised Paz, telling the media back in 2024: “Nico Paz has an incredible mindset, and that’s why he’s where he is.
“Nico has a lot of quality and understands the game perfectly. He has an incredible mindset, and he’s with Cesc Fabregas as a coach, who is my friend and will help him grow a lot.”
