The idea of Ruben Amorim reuniting with various players at AC Milan has already been touted, and the latest name is Joao Palhinha.

Record.pt in Portugal (via MilanVibes) have revealed that Milan’s management are closely monitoring the developments surrounding the Portuguese midfielder, even if Benfica are currently the team most insistent on the player.

The Lisbon club are reportedly ready to make an official offer of around €25m to Bayern Munich to beat the competition and land a player who knows the Primeira Liga well.

The costs

According to Transfermarkt, Palhinha’s current market value is around €15m. He is a defensive midfielder with an imposing size at 190cm tall, and he is very much a disruptor who sits as the anchor in front of the defence.

This is something that Amorim knows from his time with Sporting CP, and he is believed to be seeking a ‘balancer’ for the midfield given how many box-to-box profiles are already in the current squad for his 3-4-2-1. Morten Hjulmand was linked, who plays in a similar role, but he is Atletico Madrid-bound.

During his last loan spell at Tottenham, Palhinha made a total of 45 appearances, including eight in top-flight European competitions. His impact in front of goal was worth nothing too as he scored seven goals and provided three assists for his teammates.

It seems Spurs have moved on by signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, but Bayern Munich are already looking for a new home for Palhinha, formerly of Fulham.
