Arsenal youngster Kyran Thompson’s future is the subject of some confusion, with reports he’s signed for Tottenham Hotspur but images showing him in Newcastle.

Arsenal’s Kyran Thompson is set to leave the club this summer, coming to the end of his youth contract and seemingly turning down the chance to sign another.

Tottenham Hotspur had been heavily linked with a move, and reports now suggest they may have completed it.

Isaan Khan of the Daily Mail claims it’s a done deal, with Thompson signing a new contract to make the north London switch.

Yet the timing of the report is somewhat confusing, with Thompson pictured in Newcastle the previous day.

Newcastle United had also been pushing to sign Thompson on an initial scholarship deal, and the player’s presence up north would suggest they’d made some headway.

Spurs’ insider Paul O’Keefe claims that Tottenham sources are saying the youngster hasn’t given any club an answer yet, and the situation is up in the air. The player is still reportedly in talks with the various clubs involved.

Whether Thompson ends up at Spurs or Newcastle, Arsenal will be disappointed in his decision not to renew.

The club reportedly signed Thompson from West Ham United for £1.1m, and they handed the player a full scholarship at St. John’s Senior School.

After that, the Gunners fast-tracked Thompson through the ranks, giving the 16-year-old 28 appearances in the u18s this season, as well as three appearances in the u19s and one for the u21s.

To go through all that only for the player to leave for a Premier League rival is undoubtedly a shame.
