Kicking off their title defence in Group J, Argentina enjoyed a comfortable win over the north African nation, largely thanks to the brilliance of Lionel Messi, who scored his first-ever World Cup hat-trick.

Scoring three to become the joint-highest scorer in the history of the showpiece tournament, Inter Miami's Messi scored on 17, 60 and 76 minutes to seal all three points in Kansas.

Cristian started the game - the first he has since our 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in April - and played 80 minutes before being substituted for Nicolas Otamendi. It was his 52nd cap for his country. Meanwhile, Marcos Senesi was an unused substitute for Argentina.

Next up for Cristian and Marcos is the challenge of Kevin Danso's Austria on Monday 22 June (6pm UK).
