Tottenham Hotspur continue to have a quieter transfer market so far compared to London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal as Thomas Frank gets his affairs in order.
The Blues have snapped up Liam Delap with Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro to follow. Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga has arrived at Arsenal with Martin Zubimendi seemingly imminent too.
There is still plenty of time for Spurs to get their business done. LondonWorld looks at how the team could line up next season based on current transfer rumours if a ‘sensible’ approach is taken.
Tottenham Hotspur ‘sensible’ XI according to transfer rumours
Goalkeeper: Guglielmo Vicario
Defenders: Djed Spence, Castello Lukeba, Micky Van de Ven, Kyle Walker-Peters
Guglielmo Vicario will surely continue as number one between the sticks with January signing Antonin Kinsky as deputy. Thomas Frank has other areas to focus on with recruitment this summer.
One of those could be defence. Cristian Romero continues to be linked with a move to Atletico Madrid with TEAMtalk suggesting that the La Liga giants will meet Spurs’ lofty £60 million asking price. Should he leave, that money could be invested in RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba according to Footmercato.
Micky Van de Ven should continue his progress under Frank, as will rising star Djed Spence, with Football Insider suggesting Kyle Walker-Peters could return to the club as a free agent following his exit from Southampton.
Midfielders: Yegor Yarmolyuk, Archie Gray, James Maddison
Tottenham Hotspur lacked bite in midfield at times last season, leaving the defence exposed and on the end of drubbings. Frank’s tactics will likely be less gung-ho than Ange Postecoglou but the addition of Yegor Yarmolyuk would help with that.
The Ukrainian has been impressing somewhat under the radar at Brentford and was one of the first players to be linked with Spurs following Frank’s switch. OneFootbal this week suggested that interest is still there from north London, with Leeds United also linked.
Spurs make two bids for West Ham forward
Wingers: Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel
Striker: Dominic Solanke
Dominic Solanke scored nine Premier League goals in his first Spurs campaign but there’s a feeling that there is more to come from the former AFC Bournemouth man, who had a stop-start campaign due to injury.
He’ll receive support on the flank from Mathys Tel, whose loan move from Bayern Munich has been made permanent for £30 million. There’s likely to be a new addition in the winger position too. Bryan Mbeumo and Eberechi Eze had been linked but Spurs have now sent two bids for West Ham man Mohammed Kudus, who appears the most likely target.
