Under-21s captain Reiss Russell-Denny has been nominated for August’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
The 19-year-old central midfielder has been in fine form since the start of the season, playing a number of key passes from deep positions to keep Wayne Burnett’s side on the front foot.
Two assists in our thrilling 5-3 triumph at Sunderland on the opening weekend were followed with another, match-winning assist for Yusuf Akhamrich last time out against Nottingham Forest.
Reiss also supplied two further assists in our Under-21s’ Vertu Trophy opener against Bristol Rovers.
The former Chelsea Academy player is part of an eight-man shortlist for the award, which also includes Harry Gray (Leeds United) – younger brother of Archie Gray – along with Mirsad Ali (Leicester City), Shumaira Mheuka (Chelsea), Kevon Gray (Leicester City), Charles Sagoe Jr (Arsenal), Shane Nti and Charlie Tasker (both Brighton & Hove Albion).
The nominees have been selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel, who will also decide the winner.
