Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have shown interest in AFC Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi.
Earlier this week, we covered claims from France explaining that both Tottenham and the Magpies are willing to meet Bournemouth’s demand immediately to sign the centre-back, if he were to open the door for the transfer.
The problem for Tottenham and Newcastle is that the 22-year-old only wants to join Paris Saint-Germain. They hadn’t found an agreement with Bournemouth, allowing the Premier League duo to lurk around.
L’Equipe now explain that in the last few hours, PSG have found a full agreement with Bournemouth to sign the defender.
They also provide an insight into what the Ligue 1 experience during the course of the negotiations.
With both Tottenham and Newcastle in the background, the newspaper reports that PSG feared of them snatching Zabarnyi’s signing from their clutches. However, the player was determined to join the treble winners and didn’t entertain any other club.
It’s not just the Ukraine international as even his agents, Frédéric Ryssen and Tom Soden, didn’t open the door for Spurs or Eddie Howe’s side since they reached an agreement with PSG for personal terms in May.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are now moving forward to sign AC Milan centre-back Malick Thiaw for €40m including bonuses.
