Roberto De Zerbi wants Tottenham to raid one of their Premier League rivals for a prolific winger.

The summer transfer window is yet to commence officially, but Tottenham Hotspur have already wrapped up two deals. In Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, Roberto De Zerbi has managed to add two proven Premier League commodities to his defensive unit without paying a single penny.

After having the fourth-worst defensive record in the Premier League last season, it is not rocket science why the N17 officials have opted to focus on reinforcing the backline. However, several other glaring issues within the squad must be addressed in the coming months. Chief among them is the absence of a productive left-winger.

De Zerbi wants an injection of quality in the attacking areas of the pitch after watching his team struggle to create and score goals last season. The Italian tactician has been unambiguous about his desire to complete the squad with first-level players this summer.

Tottenham eye ambitious move for Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye

Tottenham are one of the Premier League clubs that have been tracking Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, who is currently at the World Cup with Senegal. Everton paid £15 million for the winger two summers ago. That looks like extraordinary business now, with the 26-year-old impressing this past season with six goals and three assists in 32 Premier League appearances.

Now, former scout Mick Brown claims De Zerbi has set his sights on signing Iliman Ndiaye. He says the news that the wideman turning down a new contract from the Toffees should put Spurs on red alert.

“Tottenham have been fans of Ndiaye for a while now,” Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“So, the news that he’s turned down contract extensions at Everton will place them on alert, I’m sure, and give them confidence a deal could be done.

“It’s going to be a difficult summer for Tottenham without European football, but they still have the ability to lure players in. De Zerbi has assessed his squad now, and he knows what positions he wants to improve, and from what I’m told, the addition of a new winger could be key.

“Look at their current squad, they’re losing Randal Kolo Muani, Mohammed Kudus, and Dejan Kulusevski have had serious injuries, Mathys Tel is hit and miss. Ndiaye would be a real upgrade on all of those players, plus he’s proven now he can be consistent and perform well in the Premier League.

“It’s certainly something Spurs could look to explore if he becomes available. I would expect they will be among a number of clubs looking at that one.”

Ndiaye would be a sensational signing for Tottenham

Ndiaye has established himself as one of the most exciting young wingers in the Premier League during his time at Everton, where his direct running, technical quality, and ability to beat defenders have made him a player coveted by multiple top clubs.

The Senegalese international brings exactly the kind of pace, directness, and unpredictability that Tottenham’s attack has desperately lacked throughout their near-disastrous 2025/26 season, and his profile aligns naturally with the type of wide forward De Zerbi has consistently favoured throughout his managerial career. He would add genuine quality to the wide areas of their attacking unit, as well as the 26-year-old’s ability to operate on either flank, would hugely benefit De Zerbi’s side.

However, despite Ndiaye failing to agree terms over a contract extension, Everton remain confident of keeping hold of him this summer. So, De Zerbi must push the Tottenham hierarchy to splash the cash and make a statement by luring Ndiaye to White Hart Lane.
