Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has not yet made a formal decision over the future of manager Ange Postecoglou at the London club.
The Aussie ended the 2024/25 season on a high as the club lifted the Europa League trophy but a dismal Premier League campaign still hung over those jubilant celebrations. Tottenham Hotspur placed 17th in the top flight, just one point above the drop zone, their worst ever finish.
Postecoglou arrived at the club in 2023, having spent two years with Glasgow giants Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. He has won 47 of his 101 matches in charge of Spurs, losing 39.
Daniel Levy to make Ange Postecoglou decision after holiday
Over the weekend, it was claimed that a final decision on Postecoglou had been made and that the manager would indeed be sacked by Levy. Football Insider carried those reports and claimed that the club was ‘pressing ahead’ with finding a new manager.
However, on Monday morning, Sky Sports claimed that no official decision has been made with Levy out of office on holiday at the moment. The outlet added that the decision is ‘highly likely to be made this week’ with the Spurs chairman coming to the end of his break abroad.
Postecoglou himself has been on holiday with family in Greece. The manager was hounded with questions over his future over the final few weeks of the season and that hasn’t stopped while he is out of the contract.
Australian Story spoke to Postecoglou in Greece and asked the Spurs boss to clarify what he meant when hinting that ‘season three is better than season two’ during the Europa League trophy parade. He said: "I didn't want us to just enjoy the moment.
"I also wanted us to think about what's next, you know — don't settle for this. We've got a taste of it now. My players have got a taste for it. The club's got a taste for it. Well, let's make sure we're back here again."

Postecoglou was also asked to reflect on his longer journey through management when speaking to the publication. The 59-year-old, who began his managerial career in Australia before going to Greece, then back to Australia and onto Scotland, said: “When we sat down 10 years ago and did the initial Australian Story, I think maybe even you guys thought that that was the culmination of what I was about to achieve. In 10 years' time, if we sit down again, I've got no doubt in my mind that there'll be more stories to tell."
It remains to be seen who Spurs would turn to if Postecoglou is sacked but there have been no shortage of names linked with the post, which will come with Champions League football next year. Taking to social media platform X on Monday, transfer reporter Ben Jacobs said: “Thomas Frank is a leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou at Spurs should a change be made, as revealed on @talkSPORT in May. Multiple meetings between Frank and Spurs have already taken place. A decision on Postecoglou’s future is expected this week.”
