In the aftermath of the 2024/2025 season, Manchester City would have hoped that Savinho has a burning desire to become one of their superstars in the upcoming campaign.

With wingers such as Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane not having their finest campaigns during their debut seasons under Pep Guardiola, City may have felt that the same transpired with the Brazilian — who eventually lost his place in the side at the end of last season.

However, Savinho is open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur in a seemingly sudden change of heart from a player who must have spent years trying to catch City’s attention while playing for their sister clubs like Troyes and Girona.

Tottenham are trying to sign Eberechi Eze as well as the 21-year-old to give Thomas Frank all the tools to improve them after Spurs finished 17th in the Premier League last season.

Oscar Bobb’s return may be forcing Savinho to consider Tottenham move

Savinho believes he can play regularly at Tottenham as he aims to nail down a spot in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad and perhaps Oscar Bobb’s return from his fractured leg has forced the former to consider his future.

The Norwegian has impressed on the right-wing in the past as well, particularly during City’s pre-season tour of the United States in 2024, against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield and against Crystal Palace in a 5-2 win last year as well.

Bernardo Silva described Bobb as “special” and after starting against Palermo in Manchester City’s recent 3-0 win where he looked bright, perhaps Savinho fears for his place in Pep Guardiola’s line-up — despite starting as many as 33 games in all competitions last season.

The Oslo-born technician can play on both flanks as well as in his natural 10 role, giving Guardiola the tactical flexibility to play him as a natural winger and in an inside forward position like Omar Marmoush and Phil Foden.

Pep Guardiola claimed Savinho is a top talent, who is capable of becoming an “extraordinary player” in June — which suggests that the player is in his plans — as he started three matches out of four during the FIFA Club World Cup as well.

The player praised his manager in April as well, with Savinho claiming Guardiola allows him to express himself and play his natural game.

Pep Guardiola’s new stance on Oscar Bobb could worry Savinho

After his return from injury, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola views Bobb as a new signing, which could be a stance that worries Tottenham target Savinho.
