Two months ago, Mundo Deportivo dismissed claims of Tottenham Hotspur making a bid for Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, but insisted they are keen on signing him.

Fast forward to August and Wednesday’s edition of AS covers Tottenham’s interest in the 24-year-old and La Real’s stance.

Tottenham are said to have tried to sign winger last year and AS state Spurs are still keen.

In December, the Japan international extended his contract until 2029, and it includes a €60m release clause. The newspaper reports ‘money is not an issue’ for the north London club to secure their long-term target’s services.

At this moment in time, it’s unclear whether Spurs will make advances or if the player is open to joining them in this window.

AS say Kubo recently complained about Real Sociedad’s squad being weak and a lack of signings. He also changed agents but is said to have denied that it’s related to a possible exit. It’s unlikely that the former Real Madrid man would admit that anyway.

Either way, these conditions will certainly favour Tottenham or another club to sign him.

Recent claims have talked about Paris Saint-Germain’s desire to replace Lee Kang-in with Kubo.

The La Liga club’s desire is to retain their key players, including Kubo. Despite Tottenham and PSG’s interest, the report claims Real Sociedad are calm and believe he’ll still be at the club beyond this window.
