Tottenham's transfer window has been one to remember thus far. Though their 3-0 opening defeat to Brentford was one to forget.
Suppose we gloss over that Premier League curtain raiser, there's a buzz about the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term. Over £300million has been spent on four new signings. Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have transformed the team's spine. Newest £85m arrival Savio will put bums in seats and the free-agent acquisitions of Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have added valuable depth. As was evident against the Bees, though, more is still needed - this is a team that has finished 17th two years on the trot. Yet with less than a week until the window slams shut, more could be on the cards.

Express Sport takes a look at what could be considered Tottenham's dream end to the window, as a deal for Omar Marmoush is wrapped up, long-term target Cody Gakpo is signed, and four other deals are sealed.
Omar Marmoush deal
With just the finer details to iron out, Marmoush will likely follow Manchester City team-mate Savio to north London. The Egyptian forward's City career has never really gathered speed and he has been allowed to leave this summer.

Marmoush, who is reportedly set to sign for Spurs on an initial loan deal with a £50m conditional purchase option, is just the type of striker De Zerbi is after.

Richarlison, whom we will get to in due course, was a notable weak point in the defeat to Brentford. And that is putting it lightly. Tottenham need a star who has elite transitional pace, can play on the shoulder and is a positionally versatile link player. Marmoush is all of these things.

Cody Gakpo signs
The reported interest in Cody Gakpo has not been entirely well-received amongst the Spurs faithful. Perhaps it is the notion that a star Liverpool deem surplus to requirements should not be worthy of playing for Tottenham, or that the attacker simply isn't the most exciting of recruits.
But a trick is being missed here; this is a player who wants a larger role, is in his prime and is a proven Premier League goalscorer. Gakpo bagged 18 goals in all competitions when Liverpool won the title two seasons ago, so just because he isn't the most entertaining of players does not mean he isn't effective.
Gakpo's 2025/26 season was undoubtedly a drop-off and that is likely why some hesitancy is harboured towards a potential deal. But with the summer Liverpool had last year, that is hardly a surprise.
City have now supposedly joined the race for his signature, which is likely to cost upwards of £60m. So Spurs must act fast to secure a versatile forward who is custom-made for De Zerbi's fluid attacking rotations and has already bagged a top-flight goal this season in his side's 2-2 opening clash against Newcastle.
Four exits
To finance moves for Gakpo and Marmoush, there will have to be casualties. Richarlison should lead the leaving party. Season after season, Spurs fans are coerced into believing that the Brazilian is capable of leading their line. Each time, he disappoints.
Brentford was the final straw for many and although at times, he can seem a world-beating attacking talent, he would fall deep down the pecking order if two more forwards arrive and some money should be recouped. He cost an initial £50m when signed from Everton in 2022.
Elsewhere, Pape Matar Sarr is also now out of favour in a congested midfield and can leave whilst he still holds some value. It has been claimed that £30m is his price tag and this seems both fair and a decent cash injection.
There is a temptation to sanction the sales of stars like Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall, but in the very likely instance that the midfield suffers from injuries, they could be needed.

The final two deals Spurs can complete involve sending both Mikey Moore and Dane Scarlett out on loan. Moore, who looked lively in pre-season before his sub-par Brentford outing, seems like he needs one more campaign away in a top league to hone his skills further.
Koln is the perfect destination and it is widely expected that he will head there temporarily, having spent last season with Rangers. Scarlett, who is now 22, should be given one last chance to have a groundbreaking loan spell before faith is lost.
