Tottenham are still said to be expecting to sell a player ahead of the Turkish and Saudi Arabian window closing on September 11 and September 23 respectively.

Spurs had a busy summer transfer window, with Thomas Frank getting his hands on some new weapons in Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani.

There were exits along the way, too, with Manor Solomon joining Villarreal on a lastminute loan deal, while Heung-min Son left earlier, and there were also exits such as Bryan Gil.

Another could follow, even after the closing of the UK window, with Yves Bissouma in line to depart after falling out of favour after the arrival of Frank. Graeme Bailey reported via TBR Football: “Bissouma is not in Frank’s plans and that has really been made clear to him in the last month. With that, he has accepted he needs to move.

“Fenerbahce have just brought Edson Alvarez, but they still want Bissouma. Spurs fully expect him to be out of the club in the coming week.”

Bissouma was left out of Tottenham’s Super Cup clash with PSG for disciplinary reasons, while he has missed more recent games through injury. Frank explained before the PSG game: “Bissouma has not travelled with the team because of disciplinary reasons. He has been late several times and the latest time was one too many. With everything you need to give your players a lot of love but also have demands and there also need to be consequences. This time there was a consequence for that.”

Spurs signed Bissouma for £30million back in 2022, but they would likely prefer to sell him this summer due to the fact his contract is set to expire next summer. Tottenham are not likely to bring in a big fee for Bissouma this summer, but they will at least guarantee some sort of fee rather than risking a free departure next summer. The midfielder is not likely to be high in Frank’s plans, with Pape Matar Sarr and Joao Palhinha both ahead of him.

Postecoglou’s love for Bissouma

Former Spurs boss Postecoglou was a big fan of Bissouma’s. He said after one game last seaosn: “I thought Biss and Rodri (Bentancur) were outstanding. They were really key for us today. The beauty of Lucas is that he fills that sort of role really well from a defensive point of view and the reason I put Biss in there today.

“I knew that we were going to need that from him, the way Bodo set up and their ability to try and gain momentum as they build up their play. I thought him and Rodri were going to be key for us stemming that, and that’s how it proved.

“I thought Biss was brilliant. Look, he’s had an up-and-down year like all of us, but I’ve still got full belief in him and full confidence that on a day like today, he could do a really good job for us and I thought he was outstanding.”
