There had been hope that the striker would be fit to return after picking up a hamstring injury in our win at Wolves last month and missing our last two games as a result.

But Roberto revealed at his pre-match press conference on Monday that he won’t risk the England international at Stamford Bridge because he “feels something” in his recovery process.

“Solanke is not ready yet, he is not available,” the boss said. “He feels something and I don’t want to take a risk for this game. We hope maybe for Sunday he can be available for one part of the game.”

The Head Coach also revealed he will speak to James Maddison about the extent of the role he can play at Chelsea after the midfielder missed a couple of days’ training in the wake of his comeback against Leeds last Monday night.

“At the beginning of the week he didn’t work for a small problem but yesterday and today, James is working very well,” Roberto added. “Now, he is not ready to play 90 minutes, I want to speak with him tomorrow morning and to take the best decision with him.”

Guglielmo Vicario is back available for selection after hernia surgery, with Roberto set to decide on Tuesday whether to restore him to the team or stick with Antonin Kinsky in goal.

Xavi Simons, Cristian Romero, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Ben Davies remain out.
