Manchester United and Tottenham have been locked in a transfer battle to sign Bryan Mbeumo in recent weeks.

Ruben Amorim’s side are very keen on Mbeumo, while Thomas Frank wants to reunite with Mbeumo after a successful spell together at Brentford.

It had been reported that Mbeumo was prioritising a move to Manchester United. However, now, there has been another twist in the tale.

Indeed, according to Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, there’s a good chance that Bryan Mbeumo would pick Tottenham over Manchester United if Spurs met his £70m asking price.

Bryan Mbeumo could choose Tottenham over Man Utd

Castles shared what he knows about Mbeumo’s situation and Tottenham.

The journalist says that he’s now hearing something completely different about Mbeumo, stating that he could choose Tottenham over Manchester United this summer.

“Brentford accept that they have to sell the player, but they want at least £70m for him. The indication from Manchester United was that Mbeumo had chosen to move there and had verbally told them his preference was to move there. I’m not hearing the same on that. I think there is a good chance that Mbeumo, should Tottenham get to the price Brentford are asking for, that he might choose Tottenham ahead of Manchester United,” Castles said.

Mbeumo could choose Tottenham over Manchester United, and it’s fair to say that Thomas Frank will have played a huge part in that decision if that’s how things pan out.

Indeed, Mbeumo loves Frank as a manager and even after he joined Tottenham the winger hailed his former manager, via Sky Sports.

“He’s done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start [at Brentford] and he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player so much as well. I can only wish him all the best and I’m sure he’s going to do well,” Mbeumo said.

“He knows everything; he’s really smart and knows what he wants to bring the team, how he wants them to play. He’s been fantastic for Brentford.”

Mbeumo says he’s sure Frank is going to do well at Tottenham, and he could well be set to join his former gaffer on this ride.
