Thierry Henry was a player who certainly relished a North London derby, and the Arsenal legend has just aimed a cheeky dig at his old rivals.

There is now just one week remaining until the first North London derby, and it could be a crucial one in the race for the Premier League title.

The Gunners find themselves four points clear at the top of the table and will be desperate to maintain that gap over Manchester City.

Ahead of next week’s clash against Tottenham, Henry has promised to be at the North London derby and has also issued a hilarious dig at the Lilywhites.

Thierry Henry aims a cheeky dig at Tottenham Hotspur

Thierry Henry has admitted the feeling was ‘weird’ when attending the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time.

The French striker was at Spurs’ stadium to watch Conor Benn fight Chris Eubank Jr, and of course, the Arsenal legend was asked about his thoughts on the new place.

Henry did agree that it was ‘very nice’, but he also said that he enjoyed going to the old White Hart Lane, where he used to ‘win a lot’.

When asked about what it was like being at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Henry told DAZN: “Weird. I’ve never actually been to the new stadium. I used to go a lot to the old one and win a lot, but yeah, it’s nice, very nice!”

The Gunners’ all-time leading goal scorer certainly has some great memories in N17, including when Arsenal won the title at White Hart Lane in 2004.

Thierry Henry’s record in the North London derby

Henry’s record in North London derbies isn’t quite as special as many would think, as he netted five times in 11 matches.

There are five players from either side ahead of him, including Harry Kane, Emmanuel Adebayor, Robert Pires, Son Heung-min and Ian Wright.

Pires has one of the best goals per game ratios in the fixture, having netted nine times in 12 matches for the Gunners against Spurs.
