Thomas Frank has already made his presence felt at Hotspur Way by making several personnel changes at the North London club.
Tottenham Hotspur are set for a decisive season under the 51-year-old as they look to follow up their Europa League triumph with another successful campaign.
In the Premier League, the team will need to make big improvements following last season’s 17th-place finish under Ange Postecoglou.
But the Lilywhites have been working on new coaching staff and new player arrivals, and one in particular has left the new manager ‘very excited’.
Thomas Frank is excited by Fabian Otte’s appointment at Tottenham
Thomas Frank has just admitted that he is ‘very excited’ by the appointment of Fabian Otte at Tottenham as First Team Goalkeeper Coach.
The 34-year-old goalkeeping coach might be young, but he arrives with a wealth of experience from his career so far.
The German coach has worked with some of the best goalkeepers in the game, including Alisson Becker and Yann Sommer.
Frank told Tottenham’s YouTube channel: “Then we’ve got Fabian Otte in as a goalkeeper coach, I’m really excited about him coming in with great experience of working with some of the best of the best goalkeepers in the world. Hopefully, he can help push the goalkeepers.”
He departed Liverpool over the summer following what was a hugely successful season at Anfield, in which he played a part in helping them win the Premier League title.
Otte, who’s been called a ‘very interesting character’, has also had similar roles with the United States national team and Borussia Monchengladbach.
During his time on Merseyside, Alisson spoke highly of the coaching back in 2024, admitting to Liverpool.com: “Fabian is a great guy, full of energy, young, brings a lot of quality. He is someone who came in a humble way to adapt, and I can adapt as well, it’s not a problem.”
Fabian Otte will need to work on Guglielmo Vicario’s set-piece weakness
Otte’s arrival could be great for Guglielmo Vicario, who has shown a clear weakness in dealing with set-piece situations.
Vicario’s weakness at set-pieces was brought to light on several occasions at the start of last season, and teams tried to exploit it against Tottenham.
The Italian has proven himself to be a top shotstopper, but his slender build has made it difficult for him to be dominant in his penalty area.
The former Liverpool coach will have his work cut out trying to improve the 28-year-old in these situations.
