'We can create magic' - Thomas Frank calls for unity at Tottenham Hotspur after Manchester City fightback in Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur produced a rousing and unexpected comeback to draw 2-2 with Manchester City in the Premier League. Afterwards head coach Thomas Frank highlighted the importance of "unity" between players and fans. A quiet, discontented Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was transformed in the second half as Dominic Solanke scored twice to earn the home side a point.

Thomas Frank said that Tottenham Hotspur can "create magic" if the club's players and fans "unite."

Spurs rallied from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday as Dominic Solanke scored a second-half brace.

There was a resigned silence from the home crowd as City dominated the opening 45 minutes and led thanks to goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo.

Spurs left the pitch to resounding boos but they were much improved in what Frank described as a "big" second half.

"I am extremely proud of the players," the Spurs boss told Sky Sports. "I am so happy that they, we got something out of it and a well-deserved point.

"It's even more impressive with the injury situation we have. We are down to the bare bones and that character and never-say-die attitude from the players and the fans - the fans in the second half, it means so much, they helped us so much to come back in this game.

"It was a very good example of what we can do together. We finally got something and we are on the right track I would say."

On the impact of the crowd, he said: "When we unite fans and players, we can create magic. That is what we need to keep pushing. It meant the world to me and to all of us."

"It is more fun when it's more smooth but this is football, this is life," the Dane added. "You need to show resilience and stay as calm as possible and carry on.

"They had one moment and we made a mistake and got punished. The first half was not bad, but the second half was much better."

Spurs are without a win in six Premier League matches but victories over Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League last month and an unbeaten run of four games in all competitions has lifted the mood somewhat.

Asked if the second half display against City was the best of his tenure, Frank said: "I don't know if it was the best. There are always big 45 minutes, but that character and mentality the players showed, we tried to instill belief.

"How they went out in the second half and came back, that shows everything about the group. That never-say-die thing they have shown for a long time now, but we got the result which is big.

"I can just say what we try to do and create is that never-say-die attitude. We respond well to setbacks and we showed a few times, but we finally got something out of that. It was big, all of the players showed a fantastic attitude."

Frank also addressed potential new signings and whether Spurs might delve into the market before Monday's deadline.

"I have plenty of support," he said. "We are definitely still in the market. We are hit a little bit hard with injuries but let's see."
