One of Tottenham Hotspur’s top players could be about to get a second chance in North London with the arrival of Thomas Frank.
Frank has held talks with Tottenham about replacing Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked earlier this week after the North London club opted to part ways with the Australian.
The Danish manager will be tasked with getting more out of the squad in the Premier League following last season’s 17th-place finish.
One of those players could be Richarlison, whom the 51-year-old has previously revealed he is a big fan of, and this could be a big blow for Everton’s hopes of landing him.
Thomas Frank has raved about Tottenham’s Richarlison
Back in 2023, after Postecoglou’s first Premier League game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-2 draw with Brentford, Thomas Frank backed Richarlison to replace Harry Kane.
Speaking to the media, Frank said: “It was England’s number nine, replaced by Brazil’s number nine. He’s a very good player, Richarlison, and I back him to score a lot of goals this season.”
It’s not quite worked out like that for the Brazilian, though, who has struggled in North London with several injuries.
In total, the 27-year-old missed a shocking 37 matches for the Lilywhites, highlighting why Tottenham are open to selling Richarlison this summer.
TBR Football understands that Everton are keen on Richarlison and have already promised him a spot in David Moyes’ team for next season.
However, the arrival of Frank could now change things and especially so given the Dane’s impressive track record of improving forward players.
The Brentford boss will also be eager to get the best out of other attackers at the North London club, such as Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.
Why Thomas Frank’s arrival could be great news for Richarlison
You just have to look at the forwards whom Frank has worked with to see why it could be exciting for Richarlison and Spurs’ other attackers to work under his tutelage.
Bryan Mbeumo, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Yoane Wissa and now Kevin Schade are all attackers who have exploded under the guidance of the Danish coach.
Now, Frank wants to bring Mbeumo to Tottenham, however, he will face strong competition from Manchester United to sign him.
The Lilywhites’ current crop of players netted 64 goals in 38 league matches last season and that could increase if the 51-year-old can work his magic again.
