Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank faced calls for the sack from some of his own fans after Saturday's Premier League draw with Burnley, but insists his team's form is on an "upward trend". Frank explained to TNT Sports ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt why he believes his side "could easily have won" four games they lost in the last nine.

Thomas Frank says Tottenham Hotspur are "100% in the market" as the January transfer window draws to a close, while he believes his team’s form is on an "upward trend" despite a poor run of results.

Spurs are on a five-game winless run in the Premier League and Frank faced some boos and angry chants from his own supporters after a 2-2 draw with Burnley at the weekend.

The UEFA Champions League has brought some solace to the embattled manager, whose side travel to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday – live on TNT Sports and discovery+ - knowing that a win will seal a top-eight spot and automatic last 16 place.

Questioned about the reaction of the fans at Turf Moor on Saturday, Frank told TNT Sports: "I think it’s about getting results, of course I understand that. I’m not happy with the results, I don’t think anyone else is happy with the results.

"There are a lot of reasons behind it, but what we need to look into is what we can affect, or I can affect, to constantly try to improve."

Frank insisted that he has seen an upturn in performances from his side since they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on December 14, despite the nine matches since in all competitions yielding two wins, two draws and four defeats.

"I think in the last nine games, yes we lost four of them, but all four we could easily have won I would say," Frank said.

"But we lose in the last minute, at least one of the draws we had we should have and could have won, maybe two of them. Then things changed.

"The underlying performance has been on an upward trend and that’s what we need to keep pushing, to get over the line with the wins and then things will change."

The January transfer window closes on February 2, and Frank admits he hopes to bring in some fresh faces by the deadline.

So far this month, the north London club have brought in teenage left-back Souza from Santos and England international midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

With more work to be done, the former Brentford boss is reluctant to rush into any moves.

"We are 100% in the market," Frank said.

"I think that when let’s say results are not top and you get injuries, that’s where you can feel you are being pressured to take decisions that you maybe don’t want to take for the future.

"But we need to make good assessments, good analysis, where we are making good decisions that can help us get short-term success, optimise that, but also be very good for the long-term."
