Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank criticised supporters who booed Guglielmo Vicario during Saturday night’s 2-1 loss to Fulham in North London.
Prior to the contest, Fulham had picked up just one point from six away games as Kenny Tete put the visitors 1-0 up after four minutes. In the sixth minute, Vicario came off his line to retrieve the ball but only hit it to a Fulham player.
With the Spurs goalkeeper in no mans land, the ball was played to Harry Wilson who curled it in beautifully from the edge of the pitch. It was the second longest-range goal of the Premier League campaign so far with the ex-Liverpool man still needing to produce an accurate curling strike to find the net.
However, some home supporters voiced their discontent with Vicario with the goalkeeper booed at different points of the game when he touched the ball. It was something that Frank was far from happy with as he issued a scathing response to those boos.
Thomas Frank’s response to Tottenham Hotspur boos
Frank said after the game: "When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb. When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well - the first was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic [Guglielmo Vicario]. I didn't like that our fans booed at him straight after and a few times after that. They can't be true Tottenham fans because everyone supports each other when you're on the pitch and we do everything we can to perform. I'm fine with them booing after the match, no problem, but not during. That is unacceptable in my opinion.
"After that, we rushed the first half in many ways. We wanted to come back into the game but couldn't do it in the first half, but we got much better in the second half. We got a bit of momentum, created more chances and opportunities, but couldn't get the second goal.
"It was an emotional performance in the second half, and I think that's quite normal. We know that we badly want to win at home, so when it's not going your way, it is hard. That's why you need to stick to the plan, be cool and not stress. It is easier said than done."
Tottenham’s rotten Premier League home form continues
Spurs have now lost all three of their games since returning from the international break. After away defeats to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, this was their first time back on home soil.
They have won just once at home in the Premier League this season - and just three times at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025. They have claimed five points from seven games at home, with one win and two draws - along with four defeats.
Only Wolves have a worse record at home, with the Premier League’s basement club picking up just a single point in front of their own fans.
