There is a good feeling around Tottenham Hotspur at the moment, with the North London club having a strong start to the 2025-26 season.
Spurs manager Thomas Frank has instilled a positive atmosphere, while the side sit in the top four of the Premier League ahead of today’s clash with Aston Villa.
Tottenham signed Xavi Simons and a wealth of other players over the summer, with the Spurs fans desperate for the club to further invest in reinforcements come January.
The return of Fabio Paratici to Tottenham was confirmed this week, meaning an additional authority when it comes to transfers – one that Frank has been discussing ahead of the Villa clash.
Collective decision on transfers
Paratici is a big personality and has a sizeable reputation after his success at Juventus, with the Italian key in bringing the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski to North London.
Frank will be keen to make the Tottenham squad his own after taking on the manager role in the summer, with recruitment a key component in that.
When asked who would have the final say on future transfers, the Spurs boss explained that he would certainly have an input alongside Paratici and Johan Lange.
“I always have a final say, you know that, of course, in the end,” the Tottenham boss told the club’s official website.
“It’s team work. The three of us need to agree and if one, let’s take an example, it doesn’t matter if it’s me, Fabio, and it’s very, very, very strong, ‘they should not be the player’, then that’s probably not that right.
“I’m pretty sure that we will find a good way to do it.”
Investment there and money to be spent
Tottenham announced earlier this month that the club’s owners had invested £100 million of additional capital, sparking hopes in the fans of further new players come January.
Frank is still finding his feet at the club but has had a positive start to life in North London, especially given the club have European football to negotiate this season also.
Paratici’s reputation for bringing quality players to the clubs he is involved with precedes him and the Italian was critical in Tottenham signing some of their most important current players.
Spurs supporters will want to see ambition in the transfer market in January and next summer, but it remains to be seen how a model where there are three decision-makers will work.
