Opposing manager - thomas frank

After 18 years in youth coaching, Frank started his senior career with Brondby in 2013.

After his departure three years later, he moved to the Premier League where he joined Brentford as assistant head coach.

Before later being promoted to the role of head coach in 2018.

After securing promotion to the Premier League for the Bees, Frank became only the second Brentford head coach or manager to achieve passage to the top-flight of English football.

He cemented the side as an established Premier League side, recording impressive 13th, ninth, 16th and 10th-place finishes in the top-flight.

Later making the move across the capital to join Spurs in the summer replacing Ange Postecoglou as head coach.

DANGER MEN

One of the most impressive goal threats is defender Micky van de Ven.

The 24-year-old has played 30 games across all competitions, scoring seven which from the backline too makes him one to keep a very close eye on.

Although, he appears to be a doubt for our clash on Sunday after picking up a ‘minor’ injury.

Brennan Johnson found the net in our home tie earlier in the season, so City will be hoping to keep him quiet to not see a repeat performance from the youngster.

Dominic Solanke is clinical in front of goal, most recently scoring on Wednesday evening against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Helping his side through to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League after beating the Bundesliga team.

Another threat comes from Cristian Romero who has been directly involved in nine goals for Tottenham Hotspur across all competitions this season (6 goals, 3 assists), as many goal contributions as he managed in his first four campaigns for Spurs combined.

Pep Guardiola preview

The City Boss will address the media on Friday 30 January from 12:30 (UK).

You can follow along live on mancity.com and our official app, with a full written recap available shortly after its conclusion.

Last time out

Manchester City claimed their spot in the Round of 16 of the Champions League after 2-0 victory over Galatasaray at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland latched on to a Jeremy Doku through ball in the 10th minute and chipped it over the top of Ugurcan Cakir in the Galatasaray goal for the first.

With Rayan Cherki finding the net after another superb assist from Doku.

It means we end the league phase in eighth position with 16 points and will therefore skip next month’s play-off round.

Previous meeting

We last played Spurs at the Etihad Stadium in August, in what was our opening home game of the 2025/26 season.

City suffered a 2-0 loss as Brennan Johnson opening the scoring with Joao Palhinha doubling the visitors’ lead.
