It is a big night for Tottenham as they look to seize the initiative in the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar. Although the sides did face each other in the league phase of UEFA's second club competition back in October, they were again paired together in the last 16 draw that took place in February.

Ange Postecoglou's playing squad is certainly looking healthy for the game at AFAS Stadion as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke have been included after their recent time on the sidelines due to injury. Ben Davies, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison miss out through injury, though.

Another three Tottenham players could be in line to make their first appearance for the club in European competition this season. Having progressed through to the knockout phase of the competition, UEFA rules allow clubs to make a maximum of three changes to their playing squad following the completion of the league phase.

Djed Spence comes into the Tottenham squad following his previous omission and January additions Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel are also included. Fraser Forster, Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner were the unlucky trio to be cut, with Antonin Kinsky also missing out following his move from Slavia Prague at the turn of the year.

In addition to their main list, clubs involved in UEFA competition also have a B list which increases the options available to a manager on a game day. Club-trained players who were born on or after January 1, 2003 are allowed to be considered for selection but they must have been with Tottenham for an uninterrupted period of a minimum of two years to be eligible.

Europa League participants are allowed to register an unlimited amount of players on the B list during the campaign, with the necessary paperwork having to be completed no later than midnight (CET) on the day before a game. With Tottenham returning to European action on Thursday evening away at AZ Alkmaar, Spurs have added young goalkeeper Aaron Maguire to their playing roster.

The 20-year-old, who has featured in 10 Premier League 2 games this season, was spotted boarding the plane to the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon and he will help provide cover for Guglielmo Vicario, Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman. The academy player takes the place of Luca Gunter, who is currently on loan in the National League with Wealdstone.

Alfie Dorrington and Will Lankshear are also no longer part of Tottenham's squad after joining Aberdeen and West Brom respectively in January. Other players that feature on Tottenham's B list include Dane Scarlett, Mikey Moore, Damola Ajayi and Luca Williams-Barnett.

As per UEFA's official website, here is what Tottenham's squad currently looks like for the Europa League knockout phase:

Goalkeepers: Vicario, Austin, Whiteman, Maguire*.

Defenders: Danso, Udogie, Romero, Porro, Spence, Davies, Van de Ven, Cassanova*, King*, Hardy*.

Midfielders: Son, Bissouma, Maddison, Gray, Bergvall, Kulusevski, Johnson, Odobert, Sarr, Bentancur, Moore*, Hall*, Kyerematen*, Olusesi*.
