The midfielder has made sporadic appearances for Tottenham this season.
Igor Tudor is walking a tightrope at Tottenham Hotspur after losing to Nottingham Forest 3-0 at home last weekend. He deserves sympathy from the fans after losing his father, as he left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium immediately after the Nottingham Forest game and returned to his homeland.
But business goes as usual, and the Spurs officials must decide whether to stick with the Croatian tactician or make another managerial change. Recent reports suggest that the Lilywhites have decided to part ways with Igor Tudor by mutual consent. The ongoing international break allows them to have a new manager on board for the remaining crucial seven games of the season.
While the fans wait to learn Tudor’s fate, there has been an update on the future of a Tottenham player.
Tottenham to allow Yves Bissouma to leave on a free transfer
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are preparing to part ways with Yves Bissouma when his contract expires in June. He is expected to depart N17 on a free transfer in search of a new adventure at the end of the season.
Having joined the North Londoners from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2022, the combative midfielder’s optional year will not be activated after all. The Malian international’s representatives are already in discussions with potential suitors as the summer window approaches.
Yves Bissouma has failed to live up to his promise at Spurs across four campaigns. The ongoing campaign has proven incredibly difficult for the 29-year-old as he struggled to maintain a consistent presence in the matchday squad, owing to ill-discipline, off-field issues and injury problems. He has clocked just 463 minutes of Premier League action across eight appearances, with many of those coming off the bench.
The African midfielder came very close to leaving Tottenham for Fenerbahce last summer, only for a knee injury to scupper a move. Then, former boss Thomas Frank froze out Bissouma from his squad at the start of the season before he suffered an injury and fell down the pecking order.
The report adds that a return to France’s Ligue 1 is now a distinct possibility, with Marseille and OGC Nice both mentioned as interested parties. Beyond Europe, clubs from Saudi Arabia’s Pro League and the USA’s Major League Soccer are also said to be tracking Bissouma’s situation closely, while Turkish clubs remain firmly in the frame.
The move to Tottenham never truly saw Bissouma blossom into an elite defensive anchor, and after four frustrating seasons in North London, he will depart this summer. Moving the Malian on would free up wages and allow the club officials to strengthen their midfield unit as part of a possible squad overhaul under a new permanent head coach.
