Tottenham Hotspur star Mikey Moore is being courted by Wales over a potential switch of international allegiance from England.

The 18-year-old is on loan at Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers this season having broken through into the Spurs first team under Ange Postecoglou. Moore had featured in pre-season under Frank but was sent north of the border to gain more experience.

Moore has represented the England under-19 side but has not yet earned a senior cap. He could represent Wales as he qualifies through a grandparent.

Mikey Moore wanted by Wales

BBC Sport Wales reports that the Football Association of Wales has contacted the midfielder and that head coach Craig Bellamy has personally spoken to the Spurs star. Moore is the youngest player to have played for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, having made his debut at 16 years and 277 days in May 2024.

Moore has 21 first team Tottenham Hotspur appearances to his name, scoring in the 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg. There is no rush for him to make a decision over his international future.

As of 2020, players can still switch international allegiance prior to the age of 21 and having played no more than three competitive matches for a senior international side. It is unlikely that Moore would be part of Thomas Tuchel’s England plans for the World Cup next summer but it would be more likely that he could represent Wales, should Bellamy’s side qualify.

The midfielder has made six appearances for Rangers this season but is yet to score his first goal with the team winless in the Scottish Premiership. He did pick up an assist in the Scottish League Cup game against Alloa Athletic last month.

Ben Davies praise for Tottenham Hotspur youngster

Should Moore choose to represent Wales, he would join Tottenham Hotspur teammates Brennan Johnson and Ben Davies in doing so. The latter has spoken very positively about Moore’s development in north London.

Last season, Davies said: “Yeah, look, this is nothing new to us. We see it every day in training, Mikey [Moore] works so hard every single day to get these opportunities so when they come, we had no doubts that they’d be ready. I thought he was very good tonight.”

In other news, Tottenham told player will be 'very happy' to complete summer transfer.
