Tottenham are eyeing reinforcements to address their attacking problems.

Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to bounce back emphatically from their lowly 17th-place finish in the Premier League, and they have started taking the right steps towards it by making moves in the transfer market.

The North Londoners have announced the signings of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi to fortify a defensive unit that was largely all over the place last season. They also want to bring in Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Hove Albion as a potential replacement for skipper Cristian Romero, who is expected to depart the club this summer.

Tottenham’s priority to address their defensive woes makes total sense, but they also need quality reinforcements at the other end of the pitch. Randal Kolo Muani is set to return to PSG after his underwhelming loan spell, while Richarlison will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the month. Then there is Dominic Solanke, who missed the majority chunks of the 2025/26 campaign with ankle problems.

Thus, it is easy to comprehend why the club bosses are keen on bolstering their forward department, and they have now set their sights on a player from Serie A.

Tottenham in the mix for Inter Milan talent

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have set their sights on Inter Milan striker Pio Esposito, who is rapidly emerging as one of the continent’s most exciting young strikers. Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have all monitored the 20-year-old’s developments from close range for the past 12 months.

After two productive years on loan with Spezia, Pio Esposito returned to Inter Milan in April 2025, and he was included in the FIFA Club World Cup squad immediately by new boss Cristian Chivu. Since then, the young gun has not looked back and enjoyed his breakout season at the Giuseppe Meazza, notching 10 goals and six assists in 48 outings. The centre-forward has also broken into the senior Italy side, bagging five goals in nine appearances already.

Despite rising interest in the Italian, Inter Milan remain relaxed over their academy product. This is largely down to Esposito having signed a contract until 2030 last year. The Nerazzurri hierarchy feels the 20-year-old can play a pivotal role in the club’s future. The Inter starlet has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last 12 months and is believed to be well aware of the growing interest in his talent.

Difficult deal to do for Spurs

Tottenham have been investing heavily in highly-regarded prospects in recent years, and their interest in Esposito shows they are sticking to their strategy. He represents a key piece of the club’s long-term developmental strategy alongside signing seasoned campaigners.

The 6ft 3ins tall striker’s excellent breakout season in Serie A have rapidly elevated his profile, and Tottenham’s success in grooming young talent could prove decisive in convincing him to choose a move to White Hart Lane over their Premier League rivals. Esposito’s clever movement, physicality, aerial prowess and ice-cold finishing make him an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s high-pressing and intense style of play.

However, with the player committed to the Inter project and their officials having hopes from their burgeoning academy star, the Lilywhites would find it extremely difficult to lure Esposito away from San Siro to N17.
