Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank explained why Mohammed Kudus will make Spurs fans “excited” this season, following their win over Arsenal.
Tottenham signed Kudus in a £55million deal from West Ham United, and he is reported to have penned a six-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kudus started for Tottenham as they secured bragging rights in the first North London derby to be played outside the United Kingdom.
The Lilywhites ran out 1-0 winners over Arsenal, and Kudus was a major threat in the game, once again showing how quickly he can turn defence into attack.
Kudus was a constant thorn in Myles Lewis-Skelly’s side and also worked hard off the ball to track back.
Frank, speaking after the game, explained what he liked about Kudus and how he can really help the team this season and beyond.
Mohammed Kudus will excite Tottenham fans with his attacking play
Thomas Frank lauded Mohammed Kudus for a number of reasons, including his work-rate, his hold-up play and his creativity.
“I think he was really good today Kudus,” the Spurs boss told football.london.
“His hold-up play, the way he takes hold of the ball in tricky situations. His one-vs-one skills, his creating opportunities for the team was top-class.
“On top of that I think he’s working extremely hard and there was a recovery run from a set piece when he was straining all the way back and he won the ball back.
“That’s how he can help the team so much. He will make a lot of the fans excited with his offensive actions and he will also help the team defensively.”
The other great Mohammed Kudus trait that will benefit Tottenham
Kudus has impressed in his early days at Tottenham, but one of his key traits is likely to come to the fore later this season.
The Ghana international is a versatile player, meaning he can cover in a number of positions once injuries and suspensions begin taking their toll.
Kudus has already admitted No. 10 is his favourite position, so he could cover for James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
Indeed, Kudus played in eight different positions for West Ham just last season, including at centre-forward and as a second striker.
