Omar Marmoush has joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan with an obligation to buy the Egyptian for £50million

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Omar Marmoush has joined the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with the deal including an obligation to buy the Egyptian for £50million.

The 27-year-old joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £59million in January 2025 and went on to score 16 goals in 62 appearances for the club under Pep Guardiola. Marmoush is the eighth summer arrival at Spurs following the signings of Savio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, who cost a combined £319million.

Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka all joined the Lilywhites on free transfers. It's understood Roberto De Zerbi is a huge admirer of Marmoush and very much wanted to work with the player.

Speaking to the club website after the deal was announced, De Zerbi said: "Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club - ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference. He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.

"He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal, and I believe he can take our attacking play to another level."

Earlier this week, De Zerbi insisted he wants the club to keep spending as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the Premier League. "I felt pressure from the first day of working in football, because I put pressure on myself. I don’t feel pressure about the transfer market. If I can, I want to spend more money again. Without problems. Because the other teams don’t spend anything different than money," he said.

"I feel pressure because I am working in one of the best clubs in the world, and I would like to help this club to compete to win the titles. I don’t know [whether] this season or next season. But, in the end, it’s my big target, personal target, because the club didn’t ask me anything - just to compete, to work well. We have nothing less than the other big clubs in the Premier League, especially now in my time.

"We are moving very well in the transfer market, and why not? I can't understand why Tottenham can't compete with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal. I don't understand why Tottenham can't spend the same money as Chelsea, Liverpool. Explain to me, because I’m not smart enough to understand."
