Tottenham Hotspur look set to miss out on the signing of Manchester City winger Savinho.
Thomas Frank is looking to make a high-profile addition at left wing following the departure of Son Heung-min to LAFC earlier this summer.
Pep Guardiola has blocked Savinho’s move to Tottenham, and the winger has been informed that he is staying at Manchester City this summer.
Spurs are now having to look elsewhere for an alternative option, and their attention has turned to AS Monaco for their latest left-wing target.
Maghnes Akliouche is a good player, but an odd fit for Tottenham
Maghnes Akliouche has emerged as an alternative option to Savinho on Spurs’ list of left wing targets, according to the Independent.
The report claims that the French winger would cost around £45m, which is considerably less than the £60m plus Manchester City wanted for their Brazilian.
Last season, the 23-year-old announced himself as one of the hottest talents in France, with an impressive campaign in the French principality.
The French youth international managed seven goals and 12 assists for Monaco, as he helped them to finish third in Ligue 1 and to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.
But, whilst the French youth international can play on the left and through the middle, his best performances have come from the right wing.
The youngster played every game on the right during the 2024/25 season, a position in which Spurs now have Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghanaian has looked superb playing there, and with Eberechi Eze set to join Tottenham to play in the number ten, it is clear that only a natural left-sided player is required.
Akliouche is a really exciting talent, but he might not be the best fit for what Spurs are looking to add to their squad in the final 12 days of the window.
Tottenham should turn their attention away from Maghnes Akliouche
Ademola Lookman could be a superb fit for the left side of Tottenham’s attack, with the winger having produced 27 goal contributions last season.
TBR Football understands that Tottenham have been offered Lookman after his move to Inter Milan fell apart, as they were unwilling to pay over £43m for the Nigerian international.
Karou Mitoma could be a strong option for the Lilywhites, but Spurs might struggle to reach an agreement to get him out of Brighton so late in the window.
In February, TBR Football revealed that Mitoma wanted Champions League football, and Spurs could offer him that chance.
Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz and Morgan Rogers would be too ambitious targets, but again, they would be very tricky deals to do at this stage of the window.
