Jules Kounde may have impressed for FC Barcelona against Getafe this past weekend, but his place in the team is far from secure.

After all, the French international has fallen behind Eric Garcia in the pecking order at right-back this season and has seen his minutes take a significant hit as a result.

His situation has given way to speculations about his future, with clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich showing an interest in the 27-year-old.

Barça, for their part, would not be averse to a sale if a significant fee was offered, and have already identified possible replacements, one of whom happens to be Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro.

Porro wants Spain return

Amidst these speculations, AS now reports that Porro is considering the possibility of leaving Tottenham in favour of a return to Spain.

The 27-year-old defender, who was part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup in the summer, recently signed a new contract with Spurs.

The new deal, which runs until the summer of 2031, also made the full-back one of the highest earners at the Premier League club.

However, he is now reportedly thinking of moving back to Spain to continue his career, with Barcelona closely monitoring the situation.

Move difficult

While there may be interest from Barcelona in acquiring Porro’s services, any move for the Spanish international will be difficult to pull off.

For starters, his new contract at Tottenham puts the Londoners in a very strong negotiating position, as they would be under no pressure to sell and can demand a huge fee in case the player asks to leave.

Moreover, any move would also depend on Kounde’s situation at Barcelona and his potential departure. But so far, the former Sevilla star has shown zero indication of considering the possibility of a departure from the Spotify Camp Nou.

So, for now, Barcelona’s interest in Porro is unlikely to lead to something substantial beyond them monitoring his progress at Tottenham. Only time will tell if the situation changes in the months to come.
