Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo has decided to snub Tottenham as he makes Man United move a priority
A slow start to the transfer window is not what Tottenham fans were expecting to see when the club lifted the Europa League trophy last month. The European silverware was meant to bring in quality players as the Lilywhites looked to strengthen their squad for Champions League football next season.
But it is fair to suggest that the North London club has failed to capitalise on the situation and are already playing catch-up with other teams in the summer. It was reported earlier that the Spurs hierarchy were ready to back Thomas Frank in the transfer market and bring in the intended targets before pre-season commenced.
Well, it seems like the promises given to the Danish tactician were all false, and the 51-year-old is already being set up to fail at N17. The ex-Brentford boss has a massive task at hand next season, and he surely cannot compete on four fronts with the same squad that managed to end last season just a place above the relegation zone.
Tottenham will miss out on Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in the summer
Tottenham are looking to make a mark in the summer and bring in a statement signing to kickstart a new era at N17. It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo as they looked to bolster their attack for next season. The Cameroon international’s pre-existing relationship with Thomas Frank was also seen as a plus and Daniel Levy was fairly confident to strike a deal for the 25-year-old amid Man United transfer links.
However, Spurs are now ready for a major setback in their efforts to land the highly-rated winger in the summer. As per David Ornstein (via X), the Lilywhites have received confirmation that Bryan Mbeumo will only leave Brentford if he is allowed to join Manchester United in the summer. The Red Devils are pulling out all stops to land the winger, and a transfer is expected to happen in the coming days.
Now, Daniel Levy must shift his focus on other alternatives as Spurs look to bring in a new attacker to compete with Brennan Johnson. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites are also interested in Southampton star Tyler Dibling and view the teenager as an ideal cover for Johnson. However, a deal to land the Englishman looks complicated as many clubs are willing to pay the asking price for his services.

Fans will hope that Thomas Frank gets backed in the summer as the North London club needs to build on the Europa League success next season. All eyes will be on the Danish tactician, and any wrong move might put the pressure on him instantly. So, Daniel Levy must make sure that the 51-year-old kickstarts a new era at N17 by carving out positive results from the get-go.
