Mohammed Kudus impressed in his first competitive appearance for Tottenham Hotspur as they lost the UEFA Super Cup final.
Tottenham Hotspur were 2-0 up and in control when he was subbed off for Mathys Tel in the 79th minute, but without him, they struggled.
Spurs lost the final in agonising circumstances as they conceded with just three minutes left in stoppage time and then lost on penalties.
Overall, Thomas Frank will be pleased by his team’s performance and especially that of Kudus, who tormented Nuno Mendes.
Tottenham fans shocked by Mohammed Kudus’ strength
Tottenham fans were stunned to see how strong Mohammed Kudus was against Paris Saint-Germain as he bullied one of the best left-backs in Europe.
The French media were full of praise for Kudus’ performance against PSG and were impressed by how well he did against Mendes.
Kudus, whom Brennan Johnson has hailed, won five of his 11 ground duels against PSG and won two fouls against the European champions.
The likes of Bukayo Saka and Lamine Yamal struggled against Mendes last season, but Spurs’ new summer signing showed how to deal with him.
The 24-year-old is set to be a key player for Spurs over the coming season and against the European champions, he showed a great deal of promise.
After the game, Spurs supporters took to X to share their thoughts on the winger and they were full of praise for him.
One fan said: “Nuno Mendes thought he was strong till he met Mohammed Kudus.”
“Kudus is incredible; his guy rarely loses duels. He just bodies whoever is defending against him. Nuno Mendes is suffering big time against him,” claimed another.
There was further praise for Kudus, with another fan stating: “Nuno Mendes needs to get in the weight room if he wants to hang with Kudus.”
Finally, one fan claimed: “They said Kudus isn’t good. He smoked Mendes throughout. A strong ball carrier, you can hardly get the ball off him, no matter who you are.”
Tottenham signed Kudus for £55m earlier this summer, which is starting to look like an astute piece of business from the North London club.
But the club need more attackers who can produce what the Ghanaian can, and that is why Tottenham are trying to sign Savinho.
Mohammed Kudus on how Tottenham must react to PSG defeat
Kudus has urged his teammates to learn from their penalty shootout defeat against PSG and the importance of staying focused for 90 minutes.
Kudus told the media: “It was disappointing to lose the game in the end. This is a big lesson to stay focused for the whole 90 minutes.
“But I’m really proud of the team for our work ethic, the energy, because I think we had them for the most part of the game, it’s just the last part where we need to stay focused.
“But we will take this as a lesson, we have a game on the weekend and full focus on that.”
