Tottenham’s search for a new sporting director could continue as Sebastian Kehl is unlikely to want the job.

That is the view of former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, who has heard that Kehl could instead stay in Germany and join Hamburg.

The 46-year-old is available for work having left his role as sporting director at Borussia Dortmund in March after four years in the role.

Spurs lost sporting director Fabio Paratici at the end of the January transfer window, with the Italian having worked alongside Johan Lange.

Lange faces an uncertain future at Spurs as he was one of the key figures in appointing Igor Tudor as interim manager in February, and the club faces a battle to remain in the Premier League.

Sebastian Kehl ‘won’t be touching Tottenham job with a barge pole’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes working with Lange could be one of the downfalls of Kehl joining Spurs.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the “instability” at the north London club does not make it an attractive proposition for the German.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “He left Borussia Dortmund earlier this year, and they had a decent record there.

“I did call up one of my German contacts who said he was more likely to go to Hamburg. With the Spurs situation, walking into that, you’d be thinking twice coming into the Premier League right now.

“Not just in terms of the position in the table and the potential of going into the Championship, but also because of the boardroom situation, the instability, and you’d have to work with Johan Lange.

“That has proven not to work over the last couple of seasons. So I don’t think he’ll be touching it with a barge pole, to be honest, from what I’m hearing, and he may end up at Hamburg.”

Daniel Levy termination fee revealed

Instability in the boardroom at Spurs has stemmed from the departure of executive chairman Daniel Levy last September.

The 64-year-old still has an indirect investment in the club through a share in ENIC, which he has been trying to sell for up to £1billion.

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Spurs likely paid Levy millions of pounds following his departure.

The exact figure will not be known until Spurs release their next set of financial accounts, whilst Levy’s former ally, Donna Cullen, was paid £6.6million after she left last summer.
