Richarlison has continued to frustrate at Tottenham in recent weeks.

The Brazilian made a bright start to the new Premier League season, with three goal contributions in the opening two games, but his form has faded away rapidly since then.

Richarlison is being linked with a move away from Tottenham yet again ahead of the January window, with Flamengo keen to strike a deal to take him back to his homeland.

The striker has provided continuous headaches since his move to North London three years ago, and Thomas Frank could be about to get a welcome upgrade at the top of the pitch in the near future.

Dominic Solanke ‘very underrated’ amid Tottenham injury update

Dominic Solanke has been sidelined for Tottenham for large chunks of the campaign, as he has continually suffered setbacks in the recovery from his ankle injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The England international even underwent surgery to correct the problem at the end of September, and it looks as though there may finally be light at the end of the tunnel in terms of his recovery.

Frank provided another update from Hotspur Way in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Chelsea, and revealed that Solanke may be available after the upcoming international break.

Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Solanke doesn’t get the credit that he deserves, and feels that his absence has had a big effect.

“By January, you’re hoping that Solanke is back and firing on all cylinders,” Wenham said.

“He’s a massive upgrade on Richarlison, and a very underrated player in my opinion. Unless he’s at your team, I don’t think he gets the recognition that he deserves. He works tirelessly, and he scores goals, scores a lot against the big clubs as well.

“Richarlison has these purple patches where he looks great, but there’s never consistency with him. There are always injuries or other reasons why he’s unavailable.”

Richarlison cannot be given a new contract at Spurs

It had been suggested recently that Richarlison could earn himself a new Tottenham contract next summer, provided that he could prove his fitness across the duration of the season.

However, that is surely an eventuality that the N17 outfit must be trying to avoid at all costs.

Richarlison has had a nightmare run of injuries and inconsistency since he moved down south from Everton in 2022, and the Merseysiders will feel that they robbed Spurs blind with the £60million package that they received.

The Lilywhites have little hope of regaining even half of that initial investment, and they are surely better served by cutting their losses at the earliest opportunity and putting all their eggs in Solanke’s basket.
