Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo is of interest to Manchester United and Liverpool with transfer links to Tottenham ramping up

Tottenham are firmly in the Antoine Semenyo January transfer race with Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United also chasing his signature. The Bournemouth star has a £65million release clause, which must be triggered by a set date in his new contract, making a mid-season departure a real possibility.

The Ghana international started the 2025/26 in exceptional form with braces against Fulham and Liverpool alongside goal contributions in positive results for the Cherries against Wolves, Brighton and Leeds United. He has, however, gone five matches without a goal or assist.

Nonetheless, his ability has remained on display which makes it no surprise that links to north London are present and potentially increasing. According to Sky Sports, Spurs are intensifying their interest in Semenyo with the club appearing ready to pay his asking price.

It has been stated that competition from Liverpool and Manchester City could scupper their plans. However, Arsenal, who are believed to be keeping an eye on developments, are well stocked in wide areas so will not be pushing ahead with any interest.

Tottenham were put off by Bournemouth's £70million Semenyo asking price in the summer, but they are now looking to get ahead of the competition.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola was asked about the attacker's future at a press conference last month, with the 43-year-old relaxed regarding his situation.

He said: "We are in November. Antoine [Semenyo] is our player, he will continue to be our player. In January, you can ask me about the market.

"But right now, I am not worried about the next market. I am not worried about the situation. In January, we will talk about whatever happened, the players we need."

Despite signing three attackers in the summer transfer window, Tottenham are lacking firepower in the frontline with a significant lean to the right-hand side given Mohammed Kudus' importance.

Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani have all been deployed on the opposite flank by Thomas Frank, with the Spurs head coach more recently opting for no wide player which saw Lucas Bergvall drift between the touchline and left-sided No.8 position.

This has made the need for a natural left-winger paramount with Tottenham having not yet replaced club icon Son Heung-min. The hope seems to be that Semenyo will be their long-term solution to that, but Liverpool and Man City could play a big role in preventing that.

The man himself also delivered a verdict on the transfer speculation which saw him explain the reasoning behind committing his short-term future to Bournemouth.

He told Sky Sports: "I don't think about it too much. I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I'm not oblivious, but I try to keep focused.

"I'm enjoying my football here. If I'm not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens.

"When they [his former team-mates] all left [in the summer], there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club.

"But I knew in my head that the manager's got something up his sleeve this year. How we finished off the season last year was so good and we could continue, especially with the players we've bought in as well.

"I wasn't too sure at the start but we've kicked on like a house on fire. I'm glad I committed to staying here because I'm enjoying every moment."
