Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa could be involved in a transfer on deadline day.
The two Premier League clubs are expected to be active on Monday, but nobody really thought that there would be a transfer between the two clubs.
However, Tottenham are in desperate need of reinforcements, and after Mathys Tel, Randal Kolo Muani and even Evan Ferguson rejected Spurs, they are exploring other options.
Fabrizio Romano has an update for Spurs fans on that front.
Tottenham have enquired about signing Leon Bailey from Aston Villa but there’s a problem
Tottenham are short of options in attack due to injuries.
A new striker should be the priority, but Spurs could do with strengthening in the wide areas too – especially on the right wing.
Dejan Kulusevski has proved that he is better through the middle now, and we think a left-footed right-winger can make a big difference.
Tyler Dibling has been linked with a move to Tottenham, but the youngster will cost a lot of money to sign from Southampton on deadline day.
So, Spurs have turned to an alternative option.
Romano has revealed that Tottenham, along with Manchester United, called Aston Villa and asked to be kept informed of Leon Bailey‘s situation.
However, as things stand, Villa are not open to letting the winger they signed for £25 million (BBC) leave the club.
Romano said in a video on his YouTube channel: “What I can tell you is that Man United and Tottenham, both clubs called to be informed on Bailey.
“But again, it depends on Aston Villa and at the moment, there are still no open doors. We will see on deadline day what’s going to happen on that one.”
Leon Bailey’s stats for Aston Villa
Bailey was a star in the Bundesliga at Bayer Leverkusen before he joined Aston Villa.
The Jamaican is a fantastic player. He is quick, a brilliant dribbler and he has the ability to score goals and provide assists too. However, he hasn’t always been a regular at Villa.
In a more attacking system like at Tottenham, Bailey will have more space to go forward, and he could become a star again under Ange Postecoglou.
However, Spurs don’t have a lot of time left to convince Villa – they will have to hurry up if they want to get this deal over the line before the window shuts.
