Tottenham Hotspur hold ‘strong interest’ in Juventus defender Federico Gatti, according to Italian news outlet TuttoSport. Nottingham Forest have also been mentioned as potential suitors. His contract in Italy expires in the summer of 2030.

Spurs are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon. They face an away trip to Craven Cottage to play Fulham. The London outfit lost 4-1 at home against Arsenal in their last league outing.

Tottenham Hotspur target Juventus defender Federico Gatti

Spurs could see Gatti as someone to boost their defensive department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the back. Igor Tudor’s side are currently looking to preserve their top flight status.

Gatti, 27, is an Italy international with six caps to his name. He joined Juventus back in 2022 and he has since made 129 appearances in all competitions, 20 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with 10 goals. His long-term future in Turin is up in the air at the moment though amid attention from elsewhere.

The centre-back caught the eye at Frosinone before Juve came calling. A change of scene to Spurs may well be what he needs at this stage of his career. He has never played outside of Italy and may well fancy something different.

What now for Tottenham Hotspur?

Spurs are too close to the drop zone for comfort right now. They have recently turned to Tudor as their new head coach. He was picked as their replacement for Thomas Frank.

Speaking ahead of their clash against Fulham, Tudor has said: “[Regarding Fulham] very recognisable team in the way how they do things, very serious team, always difficult to beat them, so it will be tough. We need to be focused on us, what to do, because we need to make better our performance.

“On the training, that's the only thing we can change, so there is nothing to think about the future or the points even. The points come as a consequence of the training and the game, so that's the focus, that's the main and only focus we need to have. In Italy, they use the terms, have a mentality of a small team.”
