In a recent post on X, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. It has been mentioned that Spurs have agreed on a record-breaking deal to land the Italy international this off-season.
Tonali’s Impressive Form In The Premier League
Tonali enjoyed a good run of form at the Tyneside club as he put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The Italy international registered three goals and earned seven assists in 53 matches for Newcastle last season on all fronts.
The 26-year-old is currently one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, Spurs have done well to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer window.
His current contract at the Tyneside club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on the cheap later this year.
Will Tonali Be A Good Signing For Tottenham Hotspur?
Tonali is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer as well.
The Italian sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from midfield. Tonali is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham if they manage to bring him on board later this year.
We can expect Tonali to add more bite and steel to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
At 26, Tonali has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent signing for Spurs to pursue before the end of this summer transfer window. All in all, Tottenham would be happy to get a deal over the line for him this off-season.
