Tottenham Hotspur Are Eyeing A Move For This Ligue 1 Midfielder: Should Frank Snap Him Up?

In a recent report, L’Equipe claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Olympique Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer. It has been revealed that Spurs are among the clubs hoping to land the France international in this transfer window.
Rabiot’s Impressive Form In French Football
Rabiot enjoyed a decent campaign at the French club after he put in a run of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The French talent participated in 31 matches for his current employers last season, netting ten goals and grabbing six assists in multiple competitions.
The 30-year-old anchored the midfield well for Marseille as he made 49 tackles, 21 blocks and 21 interceptions in Ligue 1. He was even accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates, based on his pass success rate of 84.8% in the top tier of French football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Marseille will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Spurs to sign him on the cheap this summer.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Snap Rabiot Up?
Rabiot is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a decent passer of the ball.
The French talent can even contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. Rabiot mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also function in the number ten position or act as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League.
Rabiot will undoubtedly bring more quality to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.
At 30, Rabiot has still got a few good years left in him to play at his best. Thus, Spurs would be wise to snap him up in this transfer window, but only if they can get him for a reasonable fee this summer.
