In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss this summer. It has been claimed that Spurs have enquired about the Morocco international after missing out on Crystal Palace‘s Eberechi Eze recently.

El Khannouss’ Decent Season At Leicester

El Khannouss put in a string of impressive performances for the Foxes in the previous campaign. The Moroccan talent scored three goals and picked up six assists in 37 appearances for the East Midlands club last season on all fronts.

The 21-year-old caught the eye at times in the final third as he averaged 1.24 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 23.3% of his attempts on target. El Khannouss distributed the ball well in the opposition half after completing 75.1% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the King Power Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for Tottenham to get a deal done for him on the cheap in this transfer window.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Move In For El Khannouss?

El Khannouss is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The Moroccan talent can shoot the ball with power from long range. El Khannouss is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-winger if needed. He did well to add some goals and assists to his game last season and has made a positive start to this campaign as well.

El Khannouss would no doubt add more quality to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s attack. He is good enough to serve as a decent replacement for James Maddison, who suffered a serious injury in pre-season.

At 21, El Khannouss has the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, it makes sense for the North London club to move in for him before the end of this transfer window. However, Frank needs to be patient with his development before he can get the best out of the gifted youngster.
