Tottenham Hotspur could beat Arsenal to Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, while Thomas Frank may soon sell midfielder Yves Bissouma after dropping him for the UEFA Super Cup. West Ham will need to improve their offer if they hope to sign Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes, while Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen on Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton.

Spurs ahead in race for Eze

The Mirror claims that Tottenham Hotspur have the edge in the race for Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze.

With Arsenal needing to sell to buy, Tottenham have money already available with talks underway.

Spurs axe Bissouma from UEFA Super Cup squad due to lateness

The paper states: "Confirmation that Palace won’t play in the Europa League this season after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld UEFA’s ruling has left the club vulnerable to approaches for their star players.

"Attacking midfielder Eze and captain Marc Guehi now look likely to depart in the summer transfer window.

"Liverpool have opened talks over the signing of Guehi and Eze is the subject of interest from north London rivals Spurs and Arsenal. Guehi’s current contract expires next summer and Eze has a release clause in his deal which has encouraged Spurs.

"Eze has a £68 million release clause written into his contract with the Eagles that is set to expire on Friday. Arsenal have courted him all summer, but after spending over £200m on new players, need to sell players before bidding for Eze.

"That plays into the hands of Tottenham, who have funds available and have now opened talks with Palace. Spurs missed out on signing Morgan Gibbs-White, who ended up signing a new deal with Nottingham Forest after their approach, and have just lost James Maddison to a serious knee injury."

Bissouma faces Tottenham exit

The Sun believes Yves Bissouma’s time at Tottenham could be at an end after he was left out of the club’s squad for the UEFA Super Cup.

The 28-year-old was dropped by Thomas Frank for disciplinary reasons, and has started just once in pre-season for the Dane.

The paper explains: "Yves Bissouma has been axed from Tottenham's Super Cup showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.

"Bissouma's absence now raises questions over his future, with the 28-year-old having just a year left on his contract.

"He joined Spurs from Brighton for £30 million in 2022 and has since clocked up 100 appearances.

"However, Bissouma started just one pre-season match under Frank against Luton Town.

"And the arrival of Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich could now see his spot in the side gone for good."

West Ham fall short for Fernandes

West Ham United have failed with a £30 million offer for Southampton’s 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Southampton are looking for a fee close to £58 million - the fee Chelsea paid for Romeo Lavia two years ago.

The Athletic reports: "Southampton have rejected an offer from West Ham United for midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

"The bid worth up to £30 million including add-ons fell considerably short of the Championship club’s valuation and was turned down without a counter proposal.

"Fernandes — under contract at St Mary’s until 2029 — is valued by Southampton similarly to fellow midfielder Romeo Lavia, who left for Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in a £58m deal."Talks will only resume if West Ham or any other suitor shows a willingness to get closer to that level."

Real Madrid want Wharton

Real Madrid are one of a number of clubs who are keen on Crystal Palace’s 21-year-old midfielder Adam Wharton.

Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are all interested in the player, reports the Daily Mail.

The paper writes: "Real Madrid are continuing to follow Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

"The England international played well again against Liverpool in Sunday's Community Shield, setting up Palace's equaliser and continues to be a target for top clubs.

"Tottenham made an enquiry prior to the FA Cup final in May and their interest remains but Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Madrid have held a constant presence in the stands at Selhurst Park as they keep an eye on the 21-year-old's progress."
