Following three successive defeats, Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank is "very confident" he will be given time to improve results. Pressure is growing on Frank after Spurs' most recent reverse - a 2-1 home loss against Fulham - which initiated some audible disapproval from fans. But ahead of their trip to Newcastle, Frank feels he will be given time by Spurs' hierarchy to turn things around.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has said he is "very confident" he will be given time by the club’s board to improve results.

On Saturday, Spurs suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham - who had yet to win on the road this season - mounting pressure on Frank, with his side having won just one of their last seven games in all competitions, and losing the last three.

Frank’s only Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came on the opening day of the campaign against Burnley, but despite the downturn in results and unrest among the fanbase, the Spurs boss told reporters he is "very confident" that he has the backing of the club’s hierarchy.

"It seems like they're good guys, intelligent people, know how to run businesses and learning about football," the Spurs boss said.

"I think when we're dealing with intelligent people, they can see every successful dynasty and every successful club has taken time."

Spurs were booed by their supporters during the defeat, with jeers particularly directed towards goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario following his mistake that led to Fulham’s second goal - which TNT Sports expert Peter Crouch lamented as "not acceptable".

Speaking at full-time, Frank defended his player and said those who booed Vicario "can't be true Tottenham fans", describing their behaviour as "completely unacceptable".

Ahead of Tuesday’s visit to Newcastle United, who sit one place below Spurs, Frank sympathised with the supporters' frustrations, but once again called for them to be "together" with the team.

"As I said after the game, I completely understand the frustration," he said. "If you don't win, there will always be a frustration. That is normal.

"Especially as we haven't won as much as we would have wanted to at home, not only this year but the last long period. So the frustration grows a little bit more."

Frank continued: "We are nothing without the fans. No club is anything without the fans. Tottenham is nothing without our fantastic fans, nothing. We need each other.

"My point is that during matches is where we need each other - where I want to create a fortress.

"If you want to create a fortress, it can only be together - fans, team, me. My job is to make sure we do everything we can to perform - but can we do that together? That is where you create a difficult place to play."
