Tottenham Hotspur’s form under Thomas Frank has received mixed feedback so far, but given that they are fifth and tenth in the Premier League and Champions League, respectively, the Dane is far from being under pressure.

Frank has had to fight his fair share of injury worries and underwhelming squad planning, although with Daniel Levy now no longer at the helm, it does seem like Spurs will spend money more freely and back their manager in the transfer market.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham have not ruled out making a signing or two in January itself, and have tabled an offer worth £70 million to sign Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo Goes, who has struggled for game time under Xabi Alonso.

He has played only 359 minutes, less than four full matches, across 13 outings in all competitions for Los Blancos with the likes of Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz and Franco Mastantuono above him in the pecking order in the early months of the season.

Rodrygo’s form has not been too good either, and with only one goal in the last eight months, the Brazilian international could welcome a change as soon as in the winter as he bids to regain his feet in time for next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Spurs stand a chance for Rodrygo

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid are willing to let Rodrygo Goes leave midway through the season, especially because their Copa del Rey campaign will also start in January and require them to have a better squad depth.

Nonetheless, if departing the Spanish capital in January is on the cards for the 24-year-old, Tottenham Hotspur will have a strong chance at securing his transfer given that other suitors like Arsenal and Liverpool might not splurge big money early in 2026.

Spurs can also provide Rodrygo a starring role in the team, and given that they are one of the most budding young sides in the Premier League with only a few more areas to fix, the Madrid star could welcome a tricky but exciting challenge.

Even though Rodrygo was valued at roughly £85 million in the summer, £70 million might be a good enough bid for Tottenham to land him in a couple of months considering how less the Brazilian has played so far this season.
