Tottenham Hotspur will be looking for a third straight league win tonight when they face a Crystal Palace side whose fortunes have been mixed this term.

I have a few selections including a bet builder for this fixture, which takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (kick-off, 5.30pm), where I believe the visitors could get something.

Sage choice to plump for Palace win

Tottenham have finally found some form, winning their last two league matches, so this may look like a straightforward three points for the home side, with the visitors largely struggling this season.

However, even in dispatching Coventry City 3-1 at home and then winning 2-0 at Chelsea, Tottenham did not convince, registering less than one for xG (expected goals) in both fixtures.

Four of their five goals across those two games were shots from outside the penalty area and the other, which broke the deadlock at Stamford Bridge, was an own goal by the home goalkeeper. Their second against Chelsea also came on the counter-attack when the home side were down to 10 men.

So while Tottenham may take confidence from those results – and they should be continuing to gel as a team – there is a case for the visitors getting something from this match.

It was never going to be easy for Pierre Sage to maintain the success Palace enjoyed under Oliver Glasner and it has duly been a rocky start for the new man in the dugout. But calls for him to be replaced seem premature.

In 2025-26, Sage steered Lens to second place in Ligue 1 and was named the manager of the season.

It hasn’t helped that Palace have been without goalkeeper and club captain Dean Henderson for most of this season. But the former Manchester United shot-stopper returned with a clean sheet in a 1-0 EFL Cup win at Fulham on Wednesday.

Remembering where most of Tottenham’s goals have been coming from lately, note that Henderson was beaten from outside the box only four times in 37 league matches last term (and once in three matches this season).

Palace won this fixture 3-1 last season, coming from 1-0 down, albeit their three goals came after the hosts had a player sent off – and the first of them was from the penalty spot. They also won 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the year before.

The Eagles are 13/10 in the double-chance market, which pays out if they win or draw, but it may be worth going for glory by taking them to collect all three points.

Wharton can pull the strings again

Adam Wharton was outstanding in this fixture last season, providing two terrific assists – his second was a thing of beauty.

The Palace captaincy may have been weighing heavy on the 22-year-old in the absence of Henderson this term, but he won’t have that responsibility now if, as expected, Henderson is ready to start again – and Wharton was rested for the majority of his club’s EFL Cup tie on Wednesday.

Wharton also had an assist in his side’s latest league win, a 3-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest this month.

As such, at 6/1 it may be worth an interest that the Palace midfielder again finds a way of unlocking the home side’s defence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Disasi doubles up in 47/1 multiple

I’m going to take a chance on a big-priced bet builder, starting with Palace in the double-chance market, rather than just relying on them to win.

I’ve made the case above for the visitors and for my next bet-builder pick, which is a Wharton assist.

My other two selections are focused on Axel Disasi, taking the Palace defender for at least one foul and to pick up a card.

Disasi was shown a straight red card for a dangerous-looking tackle against Ipswich Town last month.

That is his only card of the season but he is averaging over one foul a game and he was a regular in the book in his Chelsea days.

If all four bet-builder tips come in, this will pay out at 47.2/1. And the Wharton and Disasi plays are covered by Betfred’s ‘sub switch’, which means that if they are taken off before the bet lands, those legs carry over to their replacements.
