Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form has been a key characteristic of the side this season, in a somewhat unexpected manner under Thomas Frank.

The appointment of the Dane was hailed as a smart acquisition by many at the start of the season; however, due to Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form, particularly at home, with some bad away results, the opinion on Frank has changed.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Poor Form: The Burnley Draw

After a loss against West Ham, which was representative of one of the lowest points in Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form and their Premier League season as a whole, many will have expected a reaction in their following match. However, Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form only continued.

Thomas Frank’s side came mightily close to allowing hosts Burnley to collect their first Premier League win in fourteen games, but Cristian Romero’s 98th-minute equaliser eradicated this possibility after Micky van de Ven scored his side’s opening goal.

Amidst Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form, goals from Van de Ven and Romero are indicative of two of Spurs’ better performers this season.

The likes of Guglielmo Vicario have attracted critics, Matthys Tel has lacked time on the pitch and Spurs boss Thomas Frank has looked to find a solution.

However, after taking the lead against Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form came to the forefront of proceedings as they showed a lapse in concentration for both goals from Scott Parker’s side, even allowing their former full-back Kyle Walker to register an assist for the home side.

Although they have added midfielder Conor Gallagher to their ranks, Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form has continued as the Englishman has been unable to make a game-changing impact on proceedings in his two matches for his new side against West Ham and Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Poor Form: Will Thomas Frank Depart?

Thomas Frank’s football has been noted as a key reason for Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form by Spurs fans, and it is expected that his days as Spurs boss are numbered.

The owners have shown some patience with the manager so far, despite their poor form.

However, Tottenham have previously displayed a toxic atmosphere in the stadium, which has led to a managerial departure, and there is every chance that history may repeat itself.

Should history repeat itself, the owners will have to consider their next manager carefully. Chelsea and Manchester United have both opted for younger managers with largely Championship experience, which is a gamble they may have to consider.

However, they may also consider opting for a manager like Xavi, a big name who has been out of work for a period of time, and may require a big financial outlay.

A further consideration for the club when eradicating Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form and appointing a successor to Thomas Frank is the style of football that the team may play.

Although results have been varied with each manager recently at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, fans have previously expressed strong opinions on the style of football that has been played.

Fans expressed dissatisfaction with the style of football played when both Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho were in charge of the club.

Ange Postecoglou was then appointed and displayed a very contradictory style of football, before Thomas Frank was appointed, a manager with a more conservative style.

Is Thomas Frank’s Sacking Looming Large?

Following the draw against Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form has continued, indicating that Thomas Frank’s days are surely numbered.

Many will be intrigued to note the situation as it progresses, and the run of results in the coming games, should Thomas Frank retain his position for the immediate future.

However, one thing is certain: Spurs continue to free-fall down the Premier League table, and another managerial change is on the cards.
