Tottenham are eyeing a move for young African talent plying his trade in the Turkish Super Lig.

Tottenham Hotspur have shown keen interest in acquiring a talented young midfielder in the summer transfer window as they look to build a solid squad after narrowly avoiding relegation under Roberto De Zerbi.

The Lilywhites did sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window. After a slow start to his N17 career, Gallagher finished the campaign strongly. However, with Yves Bissouma set to depart Spurs on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract in June, Roberto De Zerbi is keen to add to his midfield unit.

The injury crisis has had a big say in Tottenham’s underwhelming 2025/26 campaign, which is why the N17 chiefs are prioritising adding more depth to their squad in the next couple of months. And Trabzonspor talent Christ Oulai has emerged on the club’s radar.

Tottenham learn valuation of Trabzonspor midfielder Christ Oulai

Tottenham have extensively scouted Trabzonspor midfielder Christ Oulai in several games this past season. It is understood that the Lilywhites view the 20-year-old as a ‘high priority target’.

Christ Oulai enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the Turkish Super Lig after joining in a €5.5 million deal from French side SC Bastia last summer. The Ivory Coast international bagged two goals and four assists in 31 appearances for Trabzonspor. The youngster’s performances have caught the attention of several clubs, including Chelsea, Brighton and Bournemouth.

Now, according to Turkish daily Sabah (h/t Ajansspor), Trabzonspor have set a €35m price tag on Oulai amid interest from Tottenham. Portuguese side Benfica are closely monitoring the young African talent.

From Tottenham’s perspective, Oulai could be a smart acquisition. At 20, he fits the mould of signings the North London club has made in recent years. The midfielder would be a strong fit in De Zerbi’s possession-based system, offering poise, control, energy, combativeness and craftiness. With his versatility and technical ability, the Ivorian could become the core of Tottenham’s midfield for the best part of a decade.

Now that the Lilywhites have retained their top-flight status, convincing Oulai of De Zerbi’s project will be easy for the Hotspur Way bosses.
