Rosario Central are willing to wait to get Alejo Veliz back from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with his future only likely to be resolved in July.
That’s according to La Pagina 12, who cover the Tottenham striker today and comments from board members at the Argentine club regarding the situation.
Veliz has been heavily linked with a return to his former club this summer, with him and the Argentine side reportedly keen on the deal happening. Tottenham, though, have so far refused to sanction it, preferring to send the 21-year-old on another loan deal in Europe.
La Pagina 12 pick up on that today, explaining that there has been no progress in talks between Rosario Central and Tottenham at this moment in time.
Veliz wants to make the move and has made that clear, so Rosario are maintain contact with Tottenham for the time being.
“There’s no progress, but he’s not down,” a member of Rosario’s ‘leadership’ told the outlet about the situation.
“We are willing to make a financial effort, but nothing has been made yet. They (the English team) are still considering selling his transfer,” a member of the board is quoted as clarifying for them also.
Pagina then explain that Rosario’s proposal is to obtain a loan with a fee, although no figures have been discussed as yet. This is because Tottenham have shown no interest in loaning him out again.
The belief is that may change late in the window, particularly if they don’t receive any better offers in the coming weeks. Thus, Rosario are willing to wait.
“Veliz will do everything in his power to secure a return to Central. He’s convinced that returning to the club now is the best thing for his career, and that’s fundamental to our aspirations. But we have to wait until July to see what’s new,” ‘officials’ told Pagina 12 when asked.
