Tottenham Hotspur turned to Thomas Frank as their head coach last summer. He was picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked after finishing 17th last season. Prior to his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Frank caught the eye at Brentford.
It has been an inconsistent start for the Dane in this campaign and he is under pressure. His side are back in action this weekend as they aim to hit some form. They face a home clash against Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspur linked with Jhon Duran swoop
Spurs have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Al-Nassr striker Jhon Duran along with Leeds United, as per a report by TEAMtalk. Frank has the chance to bring in some new signings before the end of the January transfer window on Monday at 7pm. He also has the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door before the deadline.
Duran, 22, left Aston Villa for the Middle East for a fee rising to £71million back in January 2025. He is currently away on loan from the Saudi club at Fenerbahce. The attacker has scored five goals in 21 games in all competitions this term but his future in Turkey is up in the air.
The Colombia international, who has 17 caps to his name, moved to Villa Park back in 2023 from Chicago Fire in MLS. He went on to become an important player during his time in the Midlands and fired 20 goals in 78 matches altogether. He was then sold by Unai Emery’s side when Al-Nassr came calling for his services.
Would Jhon Duran suit Tottenham Hotspur?
Duran would give Spurs another option at the top end of the pitch. He would provide them with more competition and depth in attack. In addition, he could offer them more pace and power going forward.
He was slammed by Simon Jordan after his transfer to Al-Nassr 12 months ago. He said on talkSPORT at the time: "I have very little respect for this player going to Saudi, I don't. At 21 years of age, this is not a super competitive league. This is not a world stage league, and I don't know why a 21 year old will be going there besides one thing and one thing only, money.
"You don't see many paupers at top-level football. You don't go into football thinking that ultimately you're gonna be anything other than successful, and if you go to Saudi, it's because you're going for one reason and one reason only, for money.
“At 21 years of age, I think that's a shame because he's not going into competitive football. I hope that he reaps the whirlwind for that in football terms. He won't reap the whirlwind for it economically. How do you develop in the substandard league? How do you get better? The way you get better in most sports is by playing with people that are better than you, because it makes you drag your standard up.”
