Richarlison considered leaving Tottenham at the end of last season, but has now decided to commit to another campaign in north London with an eye firmly on the 2026 World Cup.
According to UOL, Spurs were open to a departure provided an offer of around €40m (£34m) arrived – a report we followed closely. There were approaches from Italy and Saudi Arabia, as well as enquiries from other English clubs, but none of them developed into concrete negotiations.
The forward ultimately chose to stay after holding discussions with close advisers during pre-season. The Brazilian outlet notes he made the call with two clear priorities: keeping his place in the national team and avoiding a repeat of the physical issues that troubled him last term.
Richarlison has already featured in Carlo Ancelotti’s first squads with Brazil, starting in a draw against Ecuador and later coming off the bench in a win over Paraguay. He now awaits the September call-up for qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia, scheduled to be announced on the 25th.
In the meantime, the striker has been regaining space at Tottenham under new boss Thomas Frank. He started both official matches so far, including a brace in the opening Premier League victory over Burnley.
Now 28, Richarlison remains under contract with Spurs until June 2027, and his decision to stay keeps him in the Premier League spotlight while strengthening his chances of being on the plane to the World Cup in 2026.
